SH5660 : East pit of Cook Quarry

taken 11 years ago, near to Llanberis, Gwynedd, Great Britain

East pit of Cook Quarry
East pit of Cook Quarry
Inspection of the 1914 large scale OS map would suggest that this pit had been abandoned for some time. Apart for a tramway that came through the bottom of the causeway leading to the 'lefal' which opened out on to the old reduction level, there were no tracks shown in the east pit. The west pit on the other hand had tracks both within the pit and on the gallery above.
