Slurry pit near Pentood Uchaf
The way-marked route across the fields here passes close by this odoriferous countryside feature. Slurry (animal faeces and urine) has to be carefully managed or it can be a serious source of pollution. It must be mixed with water and kept for a time before it can be used as fertiliser since when fresh it is too acid. The pits themselves can be hazardous for animals and people if they are not covered or fenced as this one is.
