Lewes Magistrates Court
Lewes Magistrates Court
Built in the 1980s on the site of the first Lewes railway station opened in 1846. Awkward turning meant that by 1857 this station was closed and a newer one built to the south. The building and the track survived as a goods yard until the 1960s when the tracks were dismantled and the station demolished in 1967. Prior to the arrival of the station the site had once been occupied by a Franciscan Friary.
