Around 70,000 trees in Sherwood Pines Forest Park came down during the storms of January 2007. Prolonged wet weather previously meant that the ground was very soft and could not hold the trees against the force of the winds. Trees most exposed toppled onto those next to them, bringing them down also. For more information see SK6063 : Storm damage, Sherwood Pines and LinkExternal link.
