Emptying the Slag
Emptying the Slag
Molten slag is emptied from a "torpedo" at Corus's (now Tata's) Redcar Blast Furnace. These specialised railway trucks transport molten steel around the site. The whole of South Gare is made up of slag from the hundreds of blast furnaces which used to exist on Teesside.
