Ulrich Ruckriem has created one of his largest stone settings on the site of the former Outwood Colliery. The complete work consists of ten large stone pieces set over a number of locations; one column marks each of the two main entrances and a group of seven tall slabs is installed on a flat plateau (SD7705 : Ulrich Ruckriem Sculpture, Outwood Country Park). This, the largest slab (25 feet in height), marks the line of the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway track.
The Irwell Sculpture Trail

The Irwell Sculpture Trail is the largest sculpture route in the UK. It follows a winding route which extends for more than 33 miles from Bacup to Salford Quays and features more than 70 artworks from local, national and international artists.
