SR station
SR station
Modern electronic annunciator under the typical Wooden canopy of a historic Southern Railway station at Alton.

The train on the right is made up of Class 450 EMUs, with the SR's characteristic 3rd rail electrification still in use. The class 450 was built in 2003.

The sign '4 car stop' is 2 cars down the train: this is composed of two 4-car sets.

The 4-car sign is of post 2000 vintage, as are the various vinyl safety notices that can be seen on the wall and on the signal identifier at the end of the platform. The electric dot matrix destination sign dates to around 2004. The cantilevered 'Gentlemen' sign is typical of the 1980s British Rail era.
