Near the edge of the lower pit of Upper Glynrhonwy Quarry
This Quarry is known locally as Glynrhonwy Uchaf (Upper Glynrhonwy). The lower pit is divided by an igneous dyke which can be seen behind the reddish trees. These trees grow on narrow shelves in the quarry and give a very misleading impression of the actual depth of the pit. A tramway ran round the edge of the pit.
