Sculpted head on the front wall of NZ1665 : Tyne Rowing Club, Newburn Riverside
The Tyne River God symbolises in his beard the uniting of South and North Tyne and bears flaming coals on his head which, together with the pick and shovel, birds, fish and nets represent Tyneside's early industries. Carved in 1786, it appears on one of the arches at Somerset House, London TQ3080 : Somerset House, Strand as one of nine carvings symbolising Britain's main rivers
