NT1075 : Humbie Reservoir
taken 11 years ago, near to Winchburgh, West Lothian, Scotland
Humbie Reservoir
It's named on the maps as Humbie Reservoir, though it also seems to be known as Carmelhill Reservoir; not to be confused with Carmelhill Reservoir, which is a covered reservoir at the top of the hill surrounded by a security fence. This sheet of water was created by the construction of a dam across the valley at the east end. As you cross the bridge to the south shore you can hear, but not see (or photograph) the outflow falling down a weir enclosed in a grid of steel bars.
