The castle in the marsh
The castle in the marsh
Carrigafoyle Castle near Ballylongford is unusual that it stands in the middle of a marsh. It once had access for boats to moor up alongside but the little harbour has silted up. It is open to the public during the day and is free. Visitors are able to climb to the top where they can get views across the nearby River Shannon.
