This was formerly a Free Church: "The Free Church, built in the early English Gothic style, was erected in 1869, and for several years was used as a mission station in connection with the Kilpatrick Free Church. In the year 1878 it was created a regular charge" [J Bruce, "History of the Parish of West or Old Kilpatrick" (1893)].
In the present view, the church itself is at the back (the building is dated by a stone over the entrance:
