NS4473 : Bowling Church

taken 11 years ago, near to Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Bowling Church
Bowling Church
This was formerly a Free Church: "The Free Church, built in the early English Gothic style, was erected in 1869, and for several years was used as a mission station in connection with the Kilpatrick Free Church. In the year 1878 it was created a regular charge" [J Bruce, "History of the Parish of West or Old Kilpatrick" (1893)].

In the present view, the church itself is at the back (the building is dated by a stone over the entrance: NS4473 : Entrance of Bowling Church). The nearer portion of the buildings, with a "for sale" sign attached, is the church halls. For a view in the opposite direction, see NS4473 : Church of Scotland.
