The photo, taken in steady rain, doesn't do justice to this large Neolithic monument. It was built around 3500 BC. The bank, seen beyond the figure in the distance, runs for 2.3Km. It is flanked by the ditch shown in the foreground, and a similar ditch equidistant on the other side.

The trees that used to cover the monument have been removed, so that now it is easy to appreciate its scale. The bank ends at the trees in the distance, and this picture was taken half way along the bank.
