The photograph is of park- and farmland and was taken from a footpath that is between the western end of Lady Spencer’s Wood and the exit drive for vehicles leaving Hardwick Hall.

The view is southerly, toward the village of Stanley, which is beyond the hill in the distance.

The wood in the near valley bottom is part of Dovedale Wood. This wood is an ancient deciduous woodland and is an SSSI.

The walk follows the footpath in a westerly (right of the photograph) and through a gate. Once through the gate the walk continues northerly (right of the gate) uphill along the exit drive.
