Etwall: The Bakewell Gates
Etwall: The Bakewell Gates
These gates were originally made by Robert Bakewell of Derby (1682-1753) for the entrance to Etwall Hall. The Hall was demolished in 1954-5 and John Port School built in its grounds. The gates were saved from a scrap yard and eventually restored and re-erected here in 1985.
