Bridge to Seil Island
Bridge to Seil Island
Clachan Bridge, the original 'Bridge over the Atlantic' - the only one before the Skye Bridge was built. Often ascribed to Thomas Telford, but actually by John Stevenson, 1791. Definite influences of Robert Mylne in blind circular recesses and pyramid-topped markers on parapets - perhaps suggested by him. Cf his screen on Front Street, Inveraray
