Shropshire Union Canal, view from Turnover Bridge, Staffordshire
The bridge on which the photographer is standing is Turnover Bridge, where the towpath of the canal changes sides, so the horse would walk over the bridge. At the time of the photograph, this bridge was actually in use at weekends by a horse pulling a trip boat named Iona, which operated a return excursion from Norbury Junction to Goldstone Wharf. The bridge carries a very minor lane from Moreton to Church Eaton. In the distance to the north, another bridge is seen. This is Park Bridge, a farm accommodation bridge only.
