War Graves at St George's Church, Fovant
There are a number of war graves in the churchyard, many of these date from the 1914-1918 war. There was a large training camp and military hospital below the downs around Fovant, their Regimental Badges cut in the chalk hillside by the troops are a reminder of those days. A branch line was built to bring troops from the coast to these camps and the hospital. Sadly many died, among them soldiers from Australia and Canada, and were buried in this and neighbouring village churchyards.
