Lligwy Chapel
Lligwy Chapel
Marked on the map as Hen Capel Lligwy (old Lligwy Chapel) this 12th century ruin was built as a chapel of ease for the widespread parish. Chapels of ease were a fairly common arrangement in large parishes in an age when the only means of transport for most people was on foot. Rebuilding work was carried out in the 14th and 16th centuries but at some point more recently the building evidently became surplus to requirements.
