Tower of St John at Wapping
Tower of St John at Wapping
Built in 1760 to replace a building of 1617 St John's church survived until the blitz of 1940, when it was destroyed apart from the tower. It remained derelict for the next 40 years (this photo was taken in 1980). Docklands redevelopment have since seen it restored as living accommodation.
