The Nether Kirkyard, St Cyrus
The Nether Kirkyard, St Cyrus
Ancient kirkyard now in the centre of St Cyrus National Nature Reserve. The small building on the far right is a watch house built in the early 1800s in order to provide shelter for those guarding new burials against body snatchers. The corpses were in demand by anatomy schools in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
