Wareham train at Swanage, Dorset
In 1966, its last season of British Railways operation, the Swanage branch still used steam traction. Here, tank engine 41224 waits at Swanage to return its train to Wareham. The branch closed to passengers that year, but now a preservation society has rescued it, and steam trains again operate - but only as far as Corfe Castle and Norden on a regular basis.
