Ynys Lochtyn
Ynys Lochtyn
Ynys Lochtyn at the foot of Pendinas Lochtyn.
Only becomes an island at high tide.
Pendinas Lochtyn was once a Celtic Iron Age hill fort dating back to 85-420AD.
It was a kidney-shaped enclosure, defined by a single bank and ditch.
These forts were usually in two parts, the upper purely for defence and the lower as a village, where the domestic animals were kept.
Now on top stands one of the MOD's observation posts that look out over Cardigan Bay.
