SU6301 : Portsmouth Naval Dockyard from the air, May 1976

taken 41 years ago, near to Portsea, Portsmouth, Great Britain

Portsmouth Naval Dockyard from the air, May 1976.
Portsmouth Naval Dockyard from the air, May 1976.
Aerial view of Pompey looking SE towards the main docks. The aircraft carrier is either Bulwark or Hermes - perhaps some ship enthusiast might fill in some of the vessel details. The historic ships Warrior, Victory and Mary Rose are today just off this picture to the right.

(Probably not a proper geograph as it covers more than one square and was taken from quite a way off. I have also submitted aerial views of the Whale Island, RAF Thorney Island and Hayling Island taken on the same flight.)
