The drainage pump was built in 1840 and ceased working about 100 years later. The private owners, who purchased the derelict mill in the 1950s have since converted it into a holiday home. In later years the mill was also known as the Red Mill. The Wherryman's Way long distance footpath traverses the property's riverside garden.
