Joule's Brewery, Stone, Staffordshire
Joule's Brewery, Stone, Staffordshire
As seen from across the Trent and Mersey Canal in 1970. Surprisingly, there is a direct connection between the name of this brewery and the energy unit, the joule. This unit is so named in recognition of pioneering work done in the nineteenth century on the relationship between heat and mechanical energy, by a former member of the brewery family.
