Doorway and Arch at Barfrestone Church
Doorway and Arch at Barfrestone Church
This magnificent doorway is a tribute to the skill and creativity of the medieval craftsmen, rich in symbolism both pre and post Christian. Note also the inscribed hour marks on the left hand side pillar, part of a sundial to summon the congregation to services before church clocks existed.
