SN0234 : Pontfaen parish church

taken 11 years ago, near to Pontfaen, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Wales

Pontfaen parish church
Pontfaen parish church
One of many churches in the area dedicated to St Brynach. Interestingly, the OS first edition gives it as "St Bernard's Church" - all subsequent say "St Brynach's". "Brynach" was frequently rearranged to Byrnach, as in "Llanfyrnach", and the latin form was Sanctus Bernacus, so confusion with Bernard occurs. There is also a "Bernard's Well" in Henry's Moat nearby, with a chapel dedicated to St Brynach.
