Wyndy Burn
Wyndy Burn
The hill in the distance is Auchenlongford Hill(NS5829). The Wyndy Burn has its source on the low saddle between Blackside and Auchenlongford Hill. Beyond this point, all the small burns which are tributary to the R. Ayr, begin to flow in deeply incised valleys. They are former meltwater channels. The surface cover of glacial till provided little resistance to the fast flowing meltwater. (See the photo of the valley in NS6027)
