Sarsens By The Road
Sarsen stone is a type of silicified sandstone. The building stone for Stonehenge, Avebury etc. it is common on the Berkshire / Marlborough Downs, but isn't so frequent in the Chilterns. LinkExternal link
Usually broken up ages ago for building with, huge slabs like this are not often found just lying about in this area.
My guess is that these were turned up during the construction of the nearby M40.
