SD4218 : Slope Brow

taken 5 years ago, near to Mere Brow, Lancashire, Great Britain

Slope Brow
Slope Brow
In the generally flat landscape of the Lancashire Plain, this short and not very steep incline on The Marshes Lane is considered worthy of a name. To the locals in the Lancashire dialect it is pronounced Slu-ap Brew.

I read somewhere that it was the location of the edge of Martin Mere before it was drained for land reclamation in the nineteenth century.
