Cawood Castle
Cawood Castle was a country residence for the Archbishops of York, rather than a defensive castle. A Magnesian Limestone gatehouse survives, as does the east range of hand made brick. Most of what can be seen appears to date from the time of Archbishop Kempe [1426-51].
