The Muckle Ditch
The Muckle Ditch
The Muckle Ditch separates the crofting townships of Brough and Dunnet. It is 1.5 km long and must have been a major undertaking when it was cut by manual labour, probably around 1800. The Muckle Ditch is the main watercourse feeding St John's Loch. The croft of Newlands can be seen on the left.
