Heather Moor
Heather Moor
An idea can be gained of the depth of peat which has developed on Limmerhaugh Muir in the past 10000 years from this road side exposure. This is at the very edge of the heather moorland which provides an income from its grouse and pheasant shooting. This peat moorland area which extends to the Whitehaugh Water valley is an area of Special Scientific Interest.
