The King's Warrener
The King's Warrener
Tomb of Sir.Bartholomew Burghersh, brother of Henry Burghersh, Bishop of Lincoln 1320-1340 and famously fought at the battle of Crecy. He died in 1356 and held the title of King's Warrener - consequently his tomb is adorned with several carvings depicting rabbits ... his head rests on a rabbit with defaced ears and at his feet a warren with tiny rabbit heads peeking out.
