Bolton's Bench, Lyndhurst, New Forest
Bolton's Bench, Lyndhurst, New Forest
"The Bench" is a small yew-topped hill surrounded by lawn to the east of Lyndhurst. It gives views over the surrounding part of the New Forest, and is a local landmark that features on the "Welcome to Lyndhurst" road signs. The name commemorates a Lord Basing who, as Lord Warden of the Forest in 1688, was appointed Lord Bolton.
