Old An Óige Youth Hostel at Corrig Lodge, Co Cork
Corrig Lodge (or Carrig Lodge) Youth Hostel replaced the nearby Keimaneigh hostel (qv) in 1951. It was very popular with Cork cycling and walking groups at weekends, being located just north of the village of Ballingeary. Hostellers slept in the farmhouse, or sometimes in the barn, above the pigs. Joys were much simpler then. It was photographed here in 2002.
