Kirkstall Abbey Light Railway
Kirkstall Abbey Light Railway
The Abbey Light Railway crossing the mill race between Kirkstall Abbey and Bridge Road, Kirkstall. In 1974 Peter Lowe applied for planning permission to build the 2ft (610mm) narrow gauge railway at Kirkstall. The line was built with the aid of local enthusiasts and members of the Ffestiniog Railway, originally operating as a private railway then opened to the public in 1986.
