The lift to the Marsden Grotto
The lift to the Marsden Grotto
Looking remarkably like part of a colliery's winding gear, this is the top of the lift shaft leading down to the Grotto pub on the beach at Marsden.

Going to this pub must have felt a lot like going on shift for the miners at nearby Westoe and Whitburn pits, but the place was still very popular!
