Windmill, River Tillingham
Windmill, River Tillingham
A windmill has been on this spot in one form or another since the 16th century. A smock mill replaced a former post mill in 1820 and continued milling until 1912 when it became a bakery. Unfortunately, an accident with the ovens caused the mill to burn down in 1930 to be replaced by the current structure in 1932. The bakery continued until 1972 when the building became a pottery before being converted into a bed and breakfast in 1984 which it remains today. The bridge on the right is the railway bridge.
