Ruined croft house
Ruined croft house
This croft house is in the area known as Yarrows. On the east coast of Caithness there are many such ruins, mostly dating from the 19th century when poverty and an expanding population (due partly to clearances elsewhere) forced people to settle in places where agriculture was marginal at best.
