Humbie Manse Doocot
Humbie Manse Doocot
An 18th century lectern doocot, originally housed at least 1500 pigeons. The nest boxes were removed and in 1971 it was converted to a private house by Morris and Steedman. It adjoins to the walled garden of Humbie church manse. The original doorway in the centre of south elevation was blocked and a large semi-circular window inserted during the conversion. The rat course remains on the sides. It is suggested that the doocot was built to increase parish funds for the poor.
