Manorbier Castle is in an out of the way place. It is one of those hidden gems not usually on the tourist trail, thank goodness. Gerallt Gymro (Giraldus Cambrensis), the medieval Welsh cleric and chronicler was born here. It was more of a country home than a strategic defensive site.
