St Andrew's, Didling - Interior
A plain and simple tiny church, sometimes known as a Shepherd’s church because of its isolation in the rural countryside. This is a myth, as it really served the local community, which would have consisted of local farm workers, together with other rural workers.
This little church lies under the hills near Cocking. The church is early English style; there is no lighting or heating, the only light provided by candles.
The pews are most interesting, they are very old and could date back to the early days of the church when pews were first introduced, they are made of oak, and on each one there is a candleholder.
