NO4530 : Tay estuary

taken 12 years ago, near to Broughty Ferry, Dundee, Great Britain

Tay estuary
Tay estuary
The mouth of the estuary between Broughty Ferry and Tayport is 1.7 km across and this mass of water lies upstream; twice a day up to 6 metres of tide comes in and out creating currents of 7 knots.

The Tay road bridge (nearest) slopes down from the Fife (south) shore towards Dundee to the North, so it looks like it is crossing the river on a diagonal. The railway bridge lies beyond.
