Peterborough roofscape east
Looking east from the central tower of the cathedral. The prominent chimneys belong to the gas-fired power station; previously this was a conventional coal station with cooling towers, drawing its water from the River Nene. Adjacent to the power station is the important Bronze Age site of Flag Fen; beyond it the flat fens stretch away for thirty miles towards the Wash coast.
