Launchway, Bucklers Hard
Launchway, Bucklers Hard
One of two partially restored launch ways at Bucklers Hard. Between 1745 and 1814 50 Royal Navy ships were built at this location as well as merchant vessels. There were up to 5 launch ways in all to accommodate various sizes of boat. It was common practice to build small craft alongside the larger warships to utilise the offcuts from one to build the other.
