Tabernacle Welsh Baptist Chapel 116 Mostyn Street
The Grade II Listed Tabernacle Baptist Chapel was built in 1875 and extended in 1902. The extension was designed by George Alfred Humphries of Llandudno to incorporate the schoolroom. A former minister, the Revd Lewis Valentine, became well-known as a founder of the Welsh Nationalist Movement, suffering imprisonment for his activities in protest against the building of the RAF bombing school near Pwllheli in 1936. The chapel was used until 2006 by the United Welsh Congregation in Llandudno and has been a heritage centre and latterly an art gallery. In July 2013 standing empty after being in the hands of tenants for many years landowner Mostyn Estates had taken it back under its control with a view to finding a worthwhile future use for it.
