The Rotunda, Birmingham
The Rotunda, Birmingham
Second City icon. The Rotunda is unusual in being a sixties building that is much-loved by local people. It was originally designed by James A. Roberts in 1964 and was used for office accommodation. When the redevelopment of the Bull Ring was proposed, there were suggestions that the Rotunda would be demolished. Fortunately, the value of the building as a landmark was recognised, and it is undergoing complete refurbishment that will include residential apartments.
