Maori Carvings, Clandon Park
On the rear wall of the Maori meeting house (whare) Hinemihi at Clandon Park there is a vertical carving which represents three different generations of Hinemihiís descendants.† Next to the carving is a screen, believed to be Samoan, and a decorative carving believed to represent Hinemoa and Tutanekai, characters in a 'Romeo and Juliet' type story from Maori legend. For details of the location of the meeting house at Clandon Park refer to picture TQ0451 : Hinemihi, (Maori Whare), at Clandon Park.
